To launch the Gender, Sex and Sexualities Thematic Group, members will hold two online public panels in the first half of 2022 comprising of academics, professions and policy makers focused on topics relevant to the thematic group that are also of contemporary relevance to law, policy and criminology.

The first event will focus on the decriminalisation of sex work, with panellists reflecting on the recent changes to the Victorian legislation as a starting point for discussion. The panel will feature Lynzi Armstrong, Fiona Patton, Zahra Stardust and Jules Kim, chaired by Larissa Sandy.

The second panel will focus on the recent introduction of consent education to the national curriculum as a starting point to discuss what this means, what are the benefits/limitations to the emphasis on consent education and will feature Chanel Contos, Katrina Marson, Sophie Hindes and Deanne Carson, chaired by Bianca Fileborn.

Each panel will run for approximately 1 hour. Panellists will speak for 10 minutes each followed by twenty minutes of question time.
