The ANZSOC Committee of Management (CoM) welcomes our two newest members, Dr Jess Woolley, ECR Representative from Monash University and Dr Bricklyn Priebe, Newsletter Coordinator from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Jess and Bricklyn have been elected to their positions following the recent ANZSOC by-election.
Jess and Bricklyn share their visions for their respective CoM roles below and we look forward to working with them to advance these during their terms.
As a recently graduated PhD candidate, ECR Representative, Jess Woolley has a vision to strengthen ANZSOC as an inclusive, supportive, and future‑focused professional community for emerging scholars. She is committed to fostering a community that values diversity, collaboration, and equitable participation. She aims to develop greater connection and inclusion across the ANZSOC community by fostering meaningful cross‑institutional collaboration, including for ECRs and Higher Degree by Researchers (HDRs). Jess is planning to build stronger links among universities and research centres across Australia and Aotearoa, creating opportunities for shared learning, collaboration, and peer support for ECRs and HDRs. One way she is keen to achieve this is through the development of tailored workshops that respond directly to the needs of ECRs and HDR candidates, including academic publishing, grant writing, teaching, decolonising criminology, and knowledge translation between academia, policy, and practice.
Bricklyn Priebe brings strong communications experience to her role as the ANZSOC CoM Newsletter Coordinator. Bricklyn is currently the Communications and Administration Officer for the Sexual Violence Research and Prevention Unit (SVRPU) at UniSC, where she is responsible for coordinating the production of tri-annual newsletters that highlight the Unit’s research, events, achievements, and opportunities, bringing together contributions from researchers and stakeholders into clear and engaging communications. She also supports the Unit’s social media presence, helping share research, events, and opportunities across digital platforms. She is looking forward to applying these skills and experiences to the Newsletter Coordinator role at ANZSOC that will include drafting and publishing our monthly PacifiCrim mailout and associated news items for the website, and communicating activities and opportunities across the membership.
Dr Jessica Woolley
is a Research Fellow based in the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Hub. She graduated from her PhD in 2026, which examined police responses to technology‑facilitated domestic and family violence. Her research draws on feminist legal approaches in exploring regulation and responses to domestic and family violence. Jessica is committed to collaborative, policy‑engaged research and to strengthening support, inclusion, and representation for early career and higher degree research scholars within criminology.
Dr Bricklyn Priebe
is an Associate Lecturer in Criminology and Justice at UniSC, a core member of the Sexual Violence Research and Prevention Unit (SVRPU), and the Unit’s Communications and Administration Officer. She graduated from her PhD in 2025, with a focus on gender responsive approaches to addressing child sexual abuse perpetrated by women. Her broader research interests centre on prevention, safeguarding, and improving responses to sexual violence across institutional and community settings. She has been involved in interdisciplinary research projects and has worked with government and service partners to support the translation of research into policy and practice.
