ANZSOC is pleased to offer two bursary streams to support our members to attend this year’s annual conference hosted by Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, from December 1-3: Conference Registration bursary and Carer’s bursary.
The bursary streams will open after July 14, once conference abstract outcome notifications have been received. At this time, we will post the bursary application forms and submission information on the ANZSOC PacifiCrim webpage. All members will receive a member mailout about these opportunities once they are open.
A bursary funding pool has been approved by the ANZSOC Committee of Management (CoM) to go across both bursary streams. The bursary opportunities will remain open until this allocation is exhausted, or until Friday November 20 (whichever is reached first).
Guidelines: Conference Registration Bursary:
The ANZSOC CoM has endorsed the establishment of a 2026 ANZSOC Conference Registration Bursary Scheme to support any member who requires financial assistance to attend and participate. The scheme is for members only. You can join ANZSOC, or renew your membership here https://anzsoc.org/product/membership-subscription/
Conference bursaries are available to cover up to 100% of the conference registration fee.
Full-time employed academics based in the conference host city can apply for a 50% reduction.
Priority will be given to ANZSOC members who are confirmed presenters. We encourage applications from First Nations delegates, lived-experience delegates, industry partners, postgraduate and undergraduate students, academics located in Aotearoa and the Pacific, and international delegates.
Applications will be assessed in the order they are received until the Registration Bursary funds have been fully allocated.
Applicants must provide a written statement included in the application form (available after July 14) that includes:
- The Request: A statement specifying the proportion of the registration fee for which is being requested (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%), the registration type (member, student/retired/unwaged/lived experience, full conference or day registration), and whether the registration fee has already been paid.
- Statement of justification/support: A statement setting out the grounds for the requested support in terms of financial need or other circumstances, including whether a paper or papers will be presented, any financial hardship or social disadvantage experienced, and any other relevant grounds. (300 words max)
Successful applicants will be provided a registration-code which discounts the fee payable upon registration. Where a successful applicant has already paid the full registration fee at the time of their application, a reimbursement will be made directly from ANZSOC to the applicant’s nominated bank account.
All applications will be assessed by a panel of three ANZSOC Committee of Management members who will determine eligibility and decide on the proportion of registration fees awarded (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). The decision of the majority will be final.
Guidelines: Carer’s Bursary
To foster the inclusion of caregivers and families at the 2026 ANZSOC Conference, the ANZSOC CoM has established a Carer’s Bursary scheme to help offset additional carer costs that members may incur. The Carer’s Bursary can be used to offset the costs of additional care at the conference or at home, or to defray the cost of travel to the conference for a person for whom care is provided, or for an additional caregiver.
A maximum amount of $250 is available per applicant. Applications will be assessed in the order in which they are received and until such time as the Carer’s Bursary funds have been fully allocated. The Carer’s Bursary is only available to ANZSOC members. You can join ANZSOC, or renew your membership here https://anzsoc.org/product/membership-subscription/
