New Book: Seeking Justice in the criminal justice system in Australia

Author, Peter Norden AO, is an Honorary Fellow in Criminology at Deakin University. Peter has worked in a variety of roles within the criminal justice system throughout Australia. As a young social work graduate from the University of Melbourne, he established a half-way house for high-risk young offenders in 1977. He was later appointed Chaplain to Pentridge Prison (1985-1992), where he worked in high security settings for several years. He then established the Victorian Criminal Justice Coalition in 1992 which acted as a Peak Lobby Group in Victoria for criminal justice reform.

Seeking Justice is a 446-page publication with 90 colour photographs that draws on 40 years direct work experience in the criminal justice system in Australia and maps a different way forward, based on restorative justice and justice reinvested principles.

The below photo contains several reviews from prominent criminologists and legal experts across the country. The publication draws on a broad range of professional experiences across a wide range of the Australian criminal justice system and suggests a pathway of reform for the future decades.

The publication is a limited print edition, but there are still copies available directly from Norden Directions (www.nordendirections.com.au)
