Join us for a workshop about bringing Citizen (Social) Science to university classrooms

About this event

Online platforms have opened up new avenues for students to actively and directly participate in academic research. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together academics and the GLAM sector to explore possible collaborations that will ultimately benefit students with new skills and knowledge that they can give back to Australian institutions and communities.

This workshop will give background to the amazing citizen science and digital humanities projects taking place at UTAS, other Australian universities, and cultural and heritage institutions. The aim is to showcase and highlight how involving students in large projects not only improves teaching and learning but expands avenues and possibilities for academic research in the social sciences.

Participants will get a chance to network and workshop how they may be able to harness the possibilities of citizen (social) science in their teaching activities.

If you cannot make it in person a Zoom link will be available closer to the date. Please indicate when registering if you wish to join us in-person or online.

Hosted at the UTAS Media School, Salamanca Square, Hobart, and kindly supported by the School of Social Sciences at UTAS and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology (ANZSOC).
