Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology

Congratulations Professor Tubex!

It is with enormous pleasure that I write to advise that ANZSOC Member Hilde Tubex has been promoted to Professor. Hilde is a superb scholar and leader in both teaching and research. Shejoined the University of Western Australia after working for the Department of Justice (WA) after a long distinguished career in her home country of Belgium. Hilde’s research, grant and publishing record is excellent. Hilde has great success in attracting research funding, publishes important and high-quality scholarship, provides effective research supervision, and engages broadly and meaningfully with the academy, government and community. She demonstrated excellent research leadership and mentoring in her role as Deputy Head of School Research from 2017 to 2018.  In transitioning from a research-intensive role to a balanced teaching and research role on completion of her fellowship in 2016, Hilde approached her teaching with enthusiasm, dedication and passion. And she has proven to be a wonderful and effective teacher. She has played a critical role in developing and rolling out the very successful Criminology major and as the Director of Criminology was a driving force behind the introduction of the Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice this year. Hilde’s promotion to Professor is a timely, well-deserved recognition of her contribution to the discipline of Criminology over many years. Congratulations Professor Tubex!
